Student Energy is a global youth-led organization empowering young people to build the knowledge, skills, and networks they need to take action on energy. Student Energy hosts 10 skill-building and educational, career training, and project development training programs including university-based Chapters and the Student Energy Summit, the largest student-led energy conference in the world. Since 2009, Student Energy Summits have gathered thousands of youth from over 100 countries to take on the challenges of the sustainable energy transition. The Student Energy Summit (SES) is Student Energy’s pinnacle event, occurring biennially in a different city around the world to unite hundreds of students from countries all over the globe. SES is a multidisciplinary forum where students can engage with their peers, as well as leaders in the energy industry to learn, collaborate, and take action on energy. 

In November 2023, the Student Energy Summit (SES 2023) will come to the United Arab Emirates for the very first time, hosted by New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD). Under the theme Reimagining the Future, hundreds of students will gather in Abu Dhabi to participate in creating a sustainable outlook for the energy transition by connecting the youth of today to leaders of the energy sector to educate the leaders of tomorrow.


SES 2023 will be the largest youth-led energy event in the world, providing a transformative space for young people to collaborate on  energy solutions with professionals in the field. From November 28, 2023 - December 1, 2023, SES will bring together 650 young people from over 100 countries to the United Arab Emirates; where at least 40% of participants will be attending an international conference for the first time.  The international and interdisciplinary programming at SES 2023 will prepare young people for a career in the energy transition, showcasing  underrepresented voices  in the energy space and empowering youth to build important relationships with peers and industry professionals. SES 2023 will provide delegates  with the knowledge and connections needed to take on local energy challenges and pursue their own projects.


Purpose of this Form

The goal of this Application Form is for us to get to know you, why you are interested in attending, where you would be traveling from to get to SES 2023, and how you plan to get there, should you be selected to attend.


This application process has two stages: (1) the initial application to be invited as a delegate, and (2) the final registration once you have been invited to attend. (Bursary application is separate)


To apply for the Summit you will need to be a student, early professional who was recently a student, or a young person interested in the energy transition between the ages of 18-30.


Applicants who are successful in this initial application phase will be contacted through the email provided in this form in batches. Applications are reviewed continuously, and invitations will be sent out on a rolling basis.


Further information will need to be collected from you in the final registration phase before you are formally registered and accepted to attend the 2023 Student Energy Summit. Successful applicants will be invited to register for the Summit using a personalized code to access the final registration form. It will be in that form that you will make note of any practical details (diet requirements, assistance needs, etc) so that the organizers can best accommodate you at SES 2023. You will also have the option to pay for any registration fees at that time. More information on this will be provided in due time.

Summit Information
The full registration fee to attend the Summit is $1,000 USD per person, excluding flights. 
The registration fee for UAE-based delegates that do not require accommodation is $500 USD per person.

We are aiming to have full registration fees covered for all delegates selected to attend SES2023.
This coverage would include: 
  • Access to all plenary and breakout sessions led by global energy experts and leaders
  • Accommodation for 3 nights in Abu Dhabi
  • All meals for the duration of the Summit
  • Access to networking and social events
  • Transportation from our provided accommodation to the venue
  • Conference kit for Delegates
Depending on funding availability and financial need, we may be able to cover visa fees, and flight fees. However, this is subject to change on a case-by-case basis. Please indicate whether you would require full funding (including visa fees and flights) to attend SES 2023.

COP28
Part of our efforts to extend the impact of this Summit will be leveraging the location and timing of SES 2023 to support a few of our delegates in attending COP28. If you are selected as a delegate to attend SES 2023, would you be able to access your own badge to COP28 through an accredited source? If so, please tell us how you plan to source your badge from and any other information related to sourcing your own badge.
