SECT Project Submission Form

The Student Energy Career Training Program (SECT) builds leadership and employability skills through energy education, project management training, individualized career coaching, and interdisciplinary collaboration through experiential learning opportunities with climate & energy NGOs, project developers, and energy companies.

SECT addresses Student Energy’s charitable objective of advancing education and closing the gap between theoretical education and critical early career experience by delivering experiential learning and leadership opportunities that enable youth to kickstart their careers in the energy transition.

The upcoming cohort will be executed over a 34-week period from July 2025 to February 2026. This cohort will focus on young women in Africa, between the ages of 18 and 30 from diverse educational and socioeconomic backgrounds.

The Project Submission Form collects project details that can be completed by a team of 4-5 participants working for 10 hours per week from August to December 2025 (Practicum Project Phase).

The details provided in this Project Submission Form will be used to draft a Project Plan, which will be shared with the cohort team to gain an understanding of the project problem statement, scope, and key deliverables.

Primary Contact
SECT requires a definite point of contact with whom the SECT cohort team can liaise, and who is willing to dedicate at least 1 hour per week over the Practicum Project Phase to mentor the team throughout the project. This interaction is imperative to clearly define the project scope and expectations as well as to provide regular feedback and mentorship.

Communications Contact
Please provide the contact information for the Marketing/Communications point of contact; whom we can liaise and collaborate with on social media content, marketing, and communication; including requests for materials and approvals, among others.

Additional Contact
Please provide the contact information of any other additional staff that will be involved in the project, if any.

Project Scope Information

A well-defined project with clear objectives and deliverables is a key factor to the project’s success. We ask that you take the time to clearly define these components below. During the first weeks of the project, the SECT cohort team and SE staff will help you further refine and scope based on these inputs.

Is there an existing public information repository or internal resource within your organization that could aid the research of the SECT cohort team?

Upload a single office file. (e.g. .pdf, .docx, .pptx)

Project Deliverables

What tangible tasks would you like the SECT cohort team to focus on over the course of the project?

Knowing the specific outputs/project results would help the team plan towards a successfully executed project.

We will assess a SECT cohort team based on this input. We do our best to match backgrounds, participants' interests, and your organization’s needs.
